Shruti Turner, Student Editor-in-Chief - Meliora: International Journal of Student Sustainability Research

I graduated with a BEng in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Southampton in 2015, before completing a Sabbatical year as Vice President Education at the Students' Union. I have now come to the end of my MSc Biomedical Engineering, also at the University of Southampton. From January 2018 I will be undertaking a PhD at Imperial College London working with the military to develop smart socket prosthetics, which transmits data from the socket to a smart device. My passion for sustainability was ignited in 2015 during my Sabbatical year when I worked with Prof. Simon Kemp to launch the first ever student led sustainability symposium at the University. After that we wanted to expand and we came up with the idea for what is now the Meliora series, and more specifically this journal. The journey to launching the journal has been challenging and eye opening; reaching the masses to show the importance of Quality Education and Sustainability as a whole is vital.
